5 SA celebs who blocked one another on social media

Nothing says “I hate you” more than getting blocked on social media. It’s the ultimate slap in the face, especially if you are a celebrity.

Skolopad became the latest victim of Lerato Kganyago’s block button. The heartbroken entertainer shared a screenshot of her blocked notification.

“What did I do to deserve this can somebody tell her I’m sorry whatever it is,” Skolopad tweeted.

Lerato hinted that she was just getting rid of negative energy on her timeline.

But the dancer is not the only famous person to get blocked in such a public way. Here’s a look at other high-profile figures who have been blocked on social media.

Somizi blocks AKA

There’s no love lost between Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo and rapper AKA. Somizi and his bestie Bonang Matheba had a public falling out after she started dating the rapper. Word on the street is that AKA told Bonang that Somizi is the one who told DJ Zinhle about their affair. A claim he denies.

Somizi revealed last year that he does not follow AKA on social media, and took it one step further by blocking him. He made the confession after an Instagram follower noted that he drives the same BMW i8 as AKA.

“Wow I didn’t know. I don’t follow him. I’ve actually blocked him. So I guess it’s a coincidence,” Somizi wrote.

DJ Zinhle blocks AKA

DJ Zinhle has no time for celebs who like to brag. She told Touch HD in November last year that she had unfollowed a lot of celebrities on Instagram who love to brag about their lifestyles.

“The thing about Instagram is that you follow a lot of people and you get mislead, it’s just unrealistic … how can you not be envious sometimes, and this is why we’re all misled by Instagram and social media and try to live-up to standards that we don’t even know. Honestly at some point, I had to unfollow everyone in the industry. I follow DJ’s now … I just needed to be away from that whole thing,” she said.

Zinhle is also not afraid to use her block button. Her baby daddy AKA accused her of blocking his number.

Robert Marawa blocks Pearl Thusi

Pearl Thusi is known as the queen of shade, so it comes as no surprise that she would be on a few people’s blocked list. But nobody expected her fiancé Robert Marawa to use the block button on her.

Months before coming clean about their split, Robert made headlines in May 2017 when he shared a picture explaining the definition of unfinished business. “Unfinished business refers to nagging, unresolved, unexpressed or withheld feelings, memories and events of hurt, anger and resentment towards another person,” the tweet read. Some thought he was subtweeting Pearl.

Pearl responded by doing some subtweeting of her own: “You subtweet me but you have my number…#thisisalsoasubtweet and #atweetforatweet.” Robert then proceeded to block her! Pearl appears to have deleted all traces of Robert on her Instagram profile.

Cassper Nyovest blocks DJ Maphorisa

Cassper Nyovest did not take kindly to DJ Maphorisa questioning his claims that he had sold more than 10 million records. The DJ made the mistake of asking if the Tito Mboweni rapper meant streams and not records – which are two different things.

“I was not being negative I was just [being] real stating facts. I still love you u bro n respect your craft but dnt lie to us boss anymore be real bruvie. I will see u on da road hope ur security will let me say hi,” the DJ tweeted after Cassper blocked him.

Bonang Matheba blocks everyone

Bonang Matheba takes the cake when it comes to blocking people on social media. South Africa’s media darling is known to block people for insulting her man, calling her a “toothpick”, and calling her ‘Dorothy’ – which apparently is her second name.

She famously blocked YouTube star, Lasizwe ‘Babes Wamaleyvels’ Dambuza. Lasizwe, who is Khanyi Mbau’s little brother, made a spoof of Bonang’s reality show called Being Boneng. He made fun of Bonang’s love for champagne, and AKA’s alleged cheating.

The video was all in good fun, and Lasiwe is known for his funny skits. But Bonang didn’t see it that way and didn’t waste time blocking him.

“I really really adore Bonang. I really love Bonang. She is my ultimate goal. I am not out here to shade her. It was a comedy satire so I don’t understand why she got touched and blocked me,” Lasizwe told Tshisa Live in October last year.
