Carly Rae Jepsen: What you really, really need to know

Her performance on Wednesday at the Grand Arena in Cape Town will be followed by her concert in Pretoria on Saturday, October 24.

The tour is in support of her new album, E-MO-TION, the follow-up to Jepsen’s debut album Kiss, which featured her break-out hit Call Me Maybe.

Call Me Maybe climbed to No 1 on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries and has sold over 17 million singles worldwide to date.

It earned Jepsen Grammy nods for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year.

Kiss also spawned the follow-up hit Good Time, a duet with Owl City, which has been certified double-platinum.

The biggest draw card to her two concerts in South Africa is that she is serving up family friendly pop (yes the kids can come to this one).

Here’s what you need to know about her show at the Monument Ampitheatre:

• Doors open 10pm
• All tickets are general access, which means if you want to dance in front of the stage you need to be there early.
• Matthew Mole and ChianoSky will be opening for Jepsen.
• The concert is expected to last 7hours
• Take sun screen, this is an outside concert. Umbrellas will likely obstruct the view of those sitting behind you, so opt for a hat to take with.
• The amphitheatre can accommodate around 20 000 fans.
• The venue offers parking.
• Be warned, if you’re using the Eeufees Road to gain access, the single turning lane can become incredibly congested. Plan accordingly.
• This is meant to be a family friendly concert – try to behave.
• Selfie sticks will likely be allowed at the venue, but try not to obstruct the view for others.
• Food and drink will be available.
• Tickets for both shows are still available, and for an extra R100 you can get a copy of E-MO-TION included in the ticket price.
• The setlist has not been released, but will likely include her hits from Kiss and a heavy slection of songs from E-MO-TION.
