Buyel’Ekhaya music festival kicks off

Dubbed "East London's biggest music fest", Buyel'Ekhaya expects to fill up Buffalo Park Cricket Stadium.

Founded in 2009, the Buyel’Ekhaya music festival has grown from 5 000 people in year one, to 40 000 in 2014, and according to the organisers, “2015 will see East London’s cricket stadium return to its capacity of 22,000”.

Additional improvements to the Buyel’Ekhaya festival include tighter safety and security measures, which encompass venue perimeter security, tighter access control and stricter security in and around the venue.

“Absolutely no one without a valid ticket will be allowed entry and no tickets will be on sale at the gate,” said  organiser Andiswa Dlokolo.

People in possession of fraudulent tickets will be arrested. Only tickets bought at Computicket and Shoprite will be accepted.

Music extravaganza

Fans will get to see incredible local talent including Zahara, Busiswa, Nathi, Riky Rick, Cassper Nyovest, Mi Casa, Caiphus Semenya, Thandiswa and Zonke perform from day to night and combine jazz, urban, hip hop and house music. The DJ line-up includes Lulo Café, DJ Pastor and DJ Anda.

“Friends and family, young and old will enjoy this vibrant festival at the Buffalo Park Cricket Stadium,” says organiser.
