Bonang and the art of saying nothing

If you were channel surfing yesterday, you may have checked in with SABC 3’s Real Talk and its new host, Azania Mosaka.

Taking over from Anele Mdoda, who resigned in May, Azania’s first guest on the show was media personality Bonang Matheba, marking her first appearance on the show since its inception two years ago.

While things got off to a rather pleasant start, things hit a snag when Azania asked Bonang about DJ Zinhle. Anyone who follows the celeb beat will know Bonang found herself in some heated controversy when rapper AKA revealed a while back that he’d cheated on baby mama Zinhle with Bonang.

Azania asked Bonang what she thought of Zinhle, and the results were … well, curt. Check it out:

As one can see, Bonang’s answers were pretty vague – well, actually they were about as vague as vague gets, and if there was an award for vagueness, they’d win it hands down. Bonang also seems to get rather uncomfortable when Azania asks her what comes to mind when she thinks of the choices she made in the past. The interview then heads into rather cringe-worthy territory.

Naturally, however, South African Twitter has been having a blast since this interview aired. While a lot of Bonang’s fans have leaped to her defence, others have decided to take a leaf out of her book.

The interview is likely to attract viewers who are after car-crash entertainment, especially because Azania’s guest this evening is (drumroll, please!) DJ Zinhle. Set your watches and make some popcorn. It might be special.
