Black Coffee gets a Grammy nomination

South Africa’s very own DJ Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, has received a Grammy nomination in the Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Black Coffee is up against Illenium (Fallen Embers), Major Lazer (Music is the weapon), Marshmello (Shockwave), Sylvan Esso (Free Love) and Ten City (Judgement).

The Recording Academy will present the 2022 GRAMMY Awards on Monday, January 31 2022 on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

Prior to the telecast, the GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony will be held at the Microsoft Theater at 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on GRAMMY.com and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel.

The Best Gospel Album category is another hotly contested one, with Jekalyn Carr competing against Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Maverick City Music, Jonathan McReynolds & Mali Music and Cece Winans.

Jon Batiste’s WE ARE, Tony Bennett’s and Lady Gaga’s Love for Sale, Justin Bieber’s Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe), Doja Cat’s Planet Her (Deluxe), Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever, H.E.R.’s Back of My Mind, Lil Nas X’s Montero, Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour, Taylor Swift’s Evermore and Kanye West’s Donda have been nominated for Album Of The Year.
