Black Coffee becomes first SA DJ to play at the Apollo Theatre
DJ Black Coffee’s stock has risen even higher after he was billed to play at the Apollo Theater in New York this past weekend.

The DJ could barely hide his excitement as he became the first SA DJ and second local musician to play at the Apollo, after Belinda Davids made her debut last year. International DJ, Louie Vega announced that Black Coffee would be performing at the historic theatre at the end of February when he wrote on Twitter:
“Proud of my brother Black Coffee Nkosinathi Maphumulo he will be performing at the Apollo next week and with my Detroit brother Jeff Mills! This is history right here! We will be there my brother enjoying and smiling !!! No limits to where our music can reach! Keep on risin’!”
The famous Apollo Theare hosted Black Coffee this past weekend and the Pieces of Me DJ could barely hide his delight in the days leading up to his performance.
He confirmed his show on Twitter where he said: “I’m highly honoured to be gracing the stage of the Apollo Theatre. It has been one of my greatest dreams.”
