Beyonce stops the world with simultaneous film and album drop

Beyonce has been trending for two days straight after releasing a surprise album along with her highly anticipated Netflix film: Homecoming.

The 40-track album contains all the live songs (along with covers, remixes and refixes) performed during her historic two-hour Coachella set when she headlined the music festival in 2018.

It is broken down into 36 live tracks, 2 spoken word interludes and 2 new tracks, an official release of “I Been On” and a cover of Maze’s “Before I Let Go”.

Stylized as HΘMΣCΘMING; subtitled: “A Film by Beyoncé,” the film is described as an “intimate, in-depth look” at her preparation in the months leading up to the music festival, revealing “the emotional road from creative concept to a cultural movement.”

According to CNN, “Homecoming” is a love letter to HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). The title alone is a nod to the importance of homecomings on black campuses with its band and drumline performances, as well as sorority and fraternity events.

Homecoming the album is available on all major streaming platforms worldwide and HΘMΣCΘMING; A Film by Beyoncé is streaming now on Netflix.
