BET Africa denounces fake Drake concert

TV channel BET Africa has denied being a sponsor for Canadian rapper Drake’s alleged upcoming concert in March.

Taking to Twitter, the channel repeated that they were in no way involved in the supposed event and that it was not real.

It has been brought to our attention that BET Africa & @MTVBaseSouth have been listed as partners for the below event. Should you see any further promotion relating to this, please be advised that we are NOT partnering, and have NO affiliation with the below. pic.twitter.com/luJBBVdeeN

News of Drake’s alleged upcoming performance began trending when a fake concert poster started doing the rounds on Twitter.

Though visibly doctored, the poster fooled some fans easily enough for them to spread the news without checking if it was true.

Others saw right through the scam, as the concert info that was posted and deleted was too good to be true.
