A-Ha are on their way to SA: These are their biggest hits

The legendary band is coming to SA in February 2019.


Eighties super-band A-Ha has been confirmed to tour South Africa in February next year, making appearances at Green Point A Track in Cape Town and Marks Park, Emmarentia, in Johannesburg.  Founded in 1982, A-ha achieved their biggest success with their debut album Hunting High and Low in 1985 and as such many people may not be 100% sure who they are, and others may only recall the music and not the name. We take a look at the group’s biggest smash hits to jolt your memory.

The sun always shines on TV

The third single from their debut studio album Hunting High and Low the song reached number 1, in the United Kingdom, and Ireland. U2 stated that “The Sun Always Shines on T.V.” heavily influenced the composition of their 2000 single release, “Beautiful Day. and Bono paid tribute to it by combining the two songs together for a concert in Oslo, Norway, in 2005.

Take on me

Known for it’s innovative music video this is the track that made A-Ha as a band, due in part to massive airplay on MTV. The song soared to the top position of the Billboard Hot 100 on 19 October 1985 (its fifteenth week on the chart), and it stayed on the chart for twenty-seven weeks, ending at the tenth position of the 1985 year-end chart. An evergreen hit, the song has now been downloaded over 2-million times since becoming available for digital download. 

The living daylights

Popularised by the James Bond film of the same name. This is the only Bond film where the title song has not been sung by a British or American performer. The A-ha preferred mix can be heard on their 1988 album Stay on These Roads.
