5 upcoming family-friendly movies you can’t miss

There’s plenty of big-screen action to keep kids entertained or escape with a trip to the movies.

With an “Incredibles” sequel, Dracula’s antics, Winnie the Pooh and more, here are five family movies for film fans of all ages.

Incredibles 2

The superhero family returns for a second big-screen adventure. This time, Mrs. Incredible — aka Elastigirl — is called away on a new mission leading a campaign to introduce superheroes back into society.

Mr. Incredible is left to look after their three kids. His many parenting challenges include helping Dash with math homework and taking care of baby Jack-Jack, whose powers are starting to develop.

This second installment is directed by Brad Bird, who also helmed the original 2004 movie.

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation

In this third “Hotel Transylvania” picture, Dracula is lonely and looking for love. While vacationing on a luxurious Monster Cruise Ship, Dracula falls for the ship’s mysterious captain Ericka.

Mavis steps into the role of the overprotective parent, trying to keep her Dad as far away as possible from Ericka, whose true identity links her to Dracula’s ancient archenemy, Abraham Van Helsing.

Selena Gomez and Adam Sandler return to voice the characters Mavis and Dracula, this time joined by Kathryn Hahn, Mel Brooks and Steve Buscemi.

Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. Releases August 31 in SA theaters.

Teen Titans Go! to the Movies

A film adaptation the Cartoon Network animated television series “Teen Titans Go!,” the characters are based on the DC Comics stable of superheroes.

Upon learning that other DC Universe heroes have their own films, these superheroes set out in search of a director to make their Hollywood dreams come true. But when they encounter a super villain they realise there are more important things than movie fame.

With voice talents from the TV show as well as Will Arnett, Kristen Bell and Nicolas Cage.

Directed by Peter Rida Michail and Aaron Horvath. Releases July 27 in SA theaters.

Christopher Robin

Winnie the Pooh comes to the big screen this summer. Now all grown up, Christopher Robin has left behind his cuddly bear and lost his sense of imagination. Pooh and his friend from the Hundred Acre Wood — including Piglet, Eeyore and Tigger — do all they can to re-enter Christopher’s life to help him find it again.

Ewan McGregor stars as Christopher Robin in this live-action movie from Disney.

Directed by Marc Forster. Releases August 3 in SA theaters.

Duck Duck Goose!

This animated picture takes moviegoers on a comedy adventure to China. The film follows Peng, a high-flying bachelor goose who finds himself taking two lost ducklings — Chao and Chi — under his wing.

After being injured in flight, Peng has to continue his migration on foot accompanied the two demanding ducklings. The expedition across China proves eventful for this newly formed party of three.

Directed by Christopher Jenkins. Releases June 29 in SA theaters.
