Take a peek at some of the exciting new movies that will be released in the first six months of this year.


In addition to a new X-Men origins film, there are more high-profile superhero movies than ever before and several long-awaited adaptations and sequels to look forward to this year.

Here’s our pick of much-anticipated big budget celluloid treats for the first half of the new year:

Glass

M. Night Shyamalan’s latest movie features Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson (both from Unbreakable), and James McAvoy (Split) as disturbed individuals with heightened powers.

Captain Marvel

Set for release in March, this sees Oscar-winner Brie Larson step into the Marvel game in a ‘90s-set adventure about an air force pilot named Carol Danvers with mysterious superpowers. If you’re a Marvel fan then you know she’s also set to help the Avengers defeat Thanos.

Avengers: Endgame

To be released in May, this will be the epic finale to the battle between Marvel’s biggest superheroes and their greatest foe, Thanos.

Godzilla

Out in May and featuring Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Sally Hawkins and Vera Farmiga, will see the giant lizard and a host of otherworldly creatures band together for a full-on kaiju war.

Dark Phoenix

Releasing in June, the X-Men face their most formidable foe when one of their own, a young Jean Grey, starts to spiral out of control. It’s the Jean Grey origin story that fans have been waiting for.
