Spirit of community support comes to Booysens

The Dis-Chem Foundation partnered with the Human Empowerment Fund to deliver warm meals and blankets to families in the neighbourhood.

In a world where small acts of kindness can lead to profound change, The Dis-Chem Foundation significantly impacted communities across the country over the past few months, transforming lives and instilling hope.

The foundation’s most recent act of compassion was the launch of its eighth consecutive blanket campaign, which provided 10 000 blankets, 5 000 beanies, and 5 000 pairs of gloves to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s homes, old age homes, and animal shelters, nationwide, delivering warmth during harsh winter weather.

Additionally, the foundation partnered with the Humanitarian Empowerment Fund (HEF) to deliver warm meals and blankets to a vulnerable community in Booysens, Johannesburg.

It also collaborated with Brave Hearts, an organisation that prepares meals for the paediatric oncology ward at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and supports outpatients and their families who travel long distances for treatment.

Jacqueline Kahlberg, spokesperson for The Dis-Chem Foundation, shared her thoughts on the work being done.

“Our foundation is built on the principles of care and compassion. Every contribution we make and every hand we hold reminds us that together, we can uplift communities and create a lasting sense of belonging. It is the lives we have touched that inspire us to do more.”

As The Dis-Chem Foundation looks ahead, its mission remains clear; to continue fostering change and empowering communities through one heartfelt act at a time.
