Sale for discerning buyers

Bernardi Auctioneers' forthcoming auction of South African art and collectors' books is on November 3.


The first session of 282 lots of collectors’ books starts at 10am and includes a private art-reference library; Anglo-Boer War and POW; local history, travel, exploration, missionaries; weapons and militaria; Afrikaans and English literature; autographs of Nelson Mandela, Jan Smuts, CJ Langenhoven as well as an 1881 “dooprok” (christening robe).

The second session of the auction commences at 6pm with 173 lots of important South African and European art, scarce Rorke’s Drift ceramics by Elizabeth Mbatha, an Edoardo Villa painted steel sculpture and a bronze African Warrior by Andre Otto.

Paintings by Nils Anderson and Adelio Zeelie are some of the other highlights that will appeal to the discerning buyer as well as those with an early Christmas list for a significant other.
