Keep on truckin’

Park Village Auctions (PVA) continues to bring quality trucks and agricultural equipment to the market.

The next auction of this nature is due to take place on February 27.

Earthmoving equipment and farming equipment comprising an ELB Power Screen XH320SR crusher; a fleet of JCB 3CX backhoe loaders; skidsteer loaders; New Holland excavators; Valtra 171; John Deer and McCormick tractors; Case harvesters and John Deere planters will go under the hammer on the day.

Truck tractors to be auctioned include Toyota Dyna 4-093 and 8-145, 500, 300 and 17-257; Mercedes Benz Axor; Actros; Mitsubishi Fuso; MAN TGA; Nissan UD440; UD 460 and UD390; Iveco; TATA 1518; 3434; International 9800 and a Freightliner Argosy CISX-530 truck tractor.

A large collection of trailers will also be auctioned.

Stock under this banner includes SA Truck Bodies; Hendred; Afrit; Motor Trail; Flat Deck Link Trailers; skeletal; curtain side trailers; side-tipper trailers and a CTS side tipper link trailer.

PVA’s LeRoy Augustyn expects a good showing at the auction in line with “strong demand for assets of this nature,” he says.

Augustyn’s remarks are seemingly in line with expectations that South Africa’s new truck market is poised to grow in 2014, albeit admittedly at a lower ebb than that of 2013, which saw growth of 11.12%.

The sector’s growth prospects may be further tempered if various challenges play out explains Augustyn: “Huge upside risk to inflation, the continuing depreciation of the rand, political uncertainty and increasing interest rates are but a few of the issues this sector will have to contend with in 2014, all of which make for a very challenging trading environment overall. Suffice to say it will be interesting to see how matters play out.”
