Good price for good stock

Bidders had to hit the N1 for one of the year's kick-starter sales as Chico da Silva, the principle auctioneer of Consolidated Auction Group, brought the hammer down on a whole host of yellow metal machinery, heavy-haulage trucks and agricultural equipment.

“It was heavy going,” Da Silva said.

“This time of the year buyers are still testing the water but, as always, if you have good stock you tend to get competitive prices.”

Select items sold well, fetching fair resale bids.

Other items were snapped up for excellent value for money.

“That people are willing to head down the N1, almost halfway to Kroonstad, is an early indicator there’s still a lot of buoyancy in the market,” Da Silva said.

“It shows entrepreneurs and other potential buyers are eager to nudge business in the right direction through some solid bidding.”

Next Thursday the company will once more ply its trade in the construction and transport sector.

“This sector is the engine room of our economy and the demand for good-condition machines and related assets bodes well for the year ahead.”

At least five 950 CFM compressors will be put up for sale and bidders will be able to pick top-notch yellow metal lots.

Apart from the wide selection of mechanical horses, side tippers, water tankers, construction and mining machinery, crane and drop-side trucks, there are also forklifts, generators and containers that must go.
