Farm auction a peach

The small farming town of Swartruggens is located in North West along the Elands River.

The name of the town has its origin from the series of black ridges surrounding the town and it was established in 1875 on the farms Brakfontein and Scheepersrus.

The town is approximately 69 kilometres out of Zeerust. Small diamond diggings and a few mines are still operational in the area. Swartruggens is nestled between a number of star game lodges and beautiful game reserves, and has a rich source of culture and heritage sites. The area is well known for cattle farming, ecotourism, tobacco and corn.

On August 15, Vans Auctioneers will sell a farm that is situated near Swartruggens. The property is 18.3 hectares in extent and is ideal for pig farming as well as crop farming. The farm has registered water use and the capacity allows for 69 075m3 per annum for 6.4 hectares of corn or wheat and 0.7 hectares of peaches.

There are two boreholes on the property as well as grazing land. The piggery is approximately 700m2 in extent and it is divided into various pens with nozzle water supply and high-flow drainage. The main residence on the property has four bedrooms, a bathroom, two living areas and double garage. The farm also has cattle fencing, a shed and storage room.

Loose assets will also be offered on auction, which include a Massey Ferguson 135 front loader, Massey Ferguson 35 tractor, Flo-tech pump, wooden palettes, electrical cables, motor, irrigation pipes, livestock trailers and more.

Info:

> The property and loose assets will be auctioned at the premises, better known as Portion 5 of the farm Vlakplaats 407, North West.

> It is in the Groot Mariko District, approximately 78km from Rustenburg and 1km after the Swartruggens tollgate plaza just off the N4.
