Estate offers lots of lots
Pretoria Auction house Bernardi's has been charged with the task of disposing of the assets of the late estate of Willem Serfontein.
The highlights of the sale are Cape Africana yellowwood and Oregon “jonkmanskaste”, “kombuistafels”, “waterbalies”, a suite of eight Colonial chairs including carvers, Oregon-glazed “kombuis” and “spenskaste”, a circular stinkwood 10-seater dining table and 10 dainty bustle-back chairs, Art Deco and wingback suites, Italian salon furnishings, marble and brass coffee, lamp and side tables, a fine imported corner cream leather corner lounge suite, highback mod chairs, French walnut armoire, a carved bedstead, stinkwood ball-and-claw Regency style riempie bench and armchair, “wastafels” and “kiste”, antique carved Belgian oak sideboard, and an Edwardian rosewood chiffonnier and parlour suite.
Also on offer are a Cape brass jam boiler, hearth kettle, electroplate and copperwares, Royal Albert tea service, Cape “Fern” design custard cups, Noritake and Gary Barr Presidential dinner services, glassware and stainless steel Bosch appliances, small kitchen appliances, Corningware and Pyrex, and serving platters.
South African artworks by Stafford-Smith, Bosch, Munro, Gelderblom, Ploner, Dykman and others, as well as two vehicles, a Mercedes Benz 560 SEL and a Mercedes Benz 280S, will also go under the hammer.
