Sundowns and Bulls face tough tests in Cairo and Glasgow

Meanwhile, Liverpool are on the brink of capturing the EPL title this weekend.

It’s another exciting weekend of sport ahead of us, with plenty to get football and rugby fans’ hearts racing.

Here are our three top picks and predictions for the weekend.

Football

Al Ahly v Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have it all to do in Cairo on Friday, when they take on Al Ahly in the second leg of their Caf Champions League semifinal. An underwhelming goalless draw last weekend at Loftus has left Miguel Cardoso’s side firmly on the back foot, heading into the cauldron of the Cairo International Stadium.

Ahly, 12-time Champions League winners, know exactly how to get the job done in these kinds of matches, and will be confident they can get the result to take them through to the final.

The one plus for Sundowns is that they did not concede an away goal at home, meaning a score draw in Cairo will be enough. But the more likely result is an Ahly win.

Prediction: Al Ahly 1 Sundowns 0

Liverpool v Tottenham

Liverpool will officially seal the English Premier League title if they can get at least a point at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

It is now a matter of when, and not if, Arne Slot’s side seal the deal, after Arsenal’s chances effectively vanished following a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Spurs would appear the perfect opponent for Liverpool to complete their celebrations against. Tottenham are 17th in the table and seem only really focused now on trying to win the Uefa Europa League.

Prediction: Liverpool 3 Tottenham 0

Rugby

Glasgow v Bulls

It’s the third last regular season game for these teams in this season’s United Rugby Championship and there’s plenty o play for in Glasgow on Friday night.

A win by the home team will just about secure them second spot overall on the log, but a Bulls victory could see them displace Glasgow in second place, with just two games remaining for each of the sides, ensuring a thrilling conclusion to round-robin play.

It is a repeat of last season’s final, when Glasgow pipped the Bulls in stunning fashion at Loftus. Who’ll come out on top this time?

Prediction: Glasgow to win
