Alado filly too strong for Flamingo maidens

Top of the list is Stephanie Miller’s Dragonair in Race 4, who can also double up as a ready-made banker in the opening leg of what is, as usual at this venue, a tricky Pick 6. 

Previously with Candice Bass-Robinson, this daughter of Alado produced a career best effort when third over further in Cape Town a month ago. In this lesser company the drop to 1400m should present no problem, and from a plum inside draw she should be far too strong. 

Pharoah’s Charm is improving steadily and could present the primary threat, while I Am Titanium brings some fair Vaal form, and was runner up on her only previous appearance here.

Ira, Hallucination and Ante Meridiem can also get into the fray.

The other one to leap off the form page is Selfie in Race 1. She had plenty of pace when only beaten two lengths at the Vaal a fortnight ago, and significantly is Gauteng trainer Johan Janse van Vuuren’s only runner on the day. 

She faces a moderate looking bunch, and should be able to overpower them. 

The main threat could be Arctic Siren. This Trippi filly disappointed from a terrible draw on her local debut last week, but was pacey in her better Cape Town runs, and may well thrive over the minimum trip here. 

Kariba Sunrise, Romani, Savage Garden, and Show Me The Light make most appeal of the remainder.
