Three sought for rape, abandonment cases in Durban

Three people could be of assistance in solving serious cases that the police are investigating in Durban. The public is urged to be on the lookout for and report the individuals who may be linked to these cases.

THE SAPS Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit detectives are seeking assistance in solving cases they are investigating of rape, abandonment and assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

SAPS’s Sergeant Zanele Khomo said, “It is alleged that on June 8, at about 19:30, a complainant, aged 38, was walking along Snell Parade in North Beach when proceeding to the Suncoast casino with a male known to her. On the way, the male suddenly forced her to go to the nearest bush. He threatened her with a knife and pulled her to the nearest park where he raped and stabbed her in the back. Police believe the male attached in the picture (above) can be of assistance in solving the case.”

In a second case, detectives are seeking assistance in solving a case of rape they are investigating.
“It is alleged that on September 7, at about 18:00, the complainant was travelling inside a taxi with her mother from Dr Yusuf Dadoo to Inanda taxi rank. Her mother jumped off at the Clermont taxi rank, and she was left with the driver and his assistant, and one passenger jumped off. The taxi proceeded to the Inanda taxi rank, and the complainant noticed a dark passage in which the taxi parked. The driver opened the door and jumped to where the victim was seated. The assistant jumped out and the driver opened an okapi knife and threatened the victim not to cry. He then started to kiss her and undressed and raped her. Police believe the male attached in the picture (see main feature photo) can be of assistance in solving the case.”

“Also, it is alleged that on September 11, at about 15:15, police attended to a complaint of child abandonment by 37 Beatrice Street, Durban. On arrival, police were informed by a woman working at the shop that an unknown female came to the shop with the baby in her arms, and she asked for a certain medication which she was told they were not selling.  A few minutes later, the woman at the shop heard the baby crying. Upon checking, they discovered that the baby had been left at the shop counter by an unknown female who came to the shop. The baby is a one-month-old boy. Police believe the female attached in the picture (above) can be of assistance in solving the case,” revealed Sergeant Khomo.
