“Her impact is also seen outside of the classroom in her role on combined management, the T&D team, safeguarding officer, foundation phase leader for Round Square, as well as being a member of the ECD and Foundation Phase Curriculum and Development team.

“Maistry is a mother to two beautiful daughters, both having matriculated from St Andrew’s, and a wife to Ugan Maistry.

“She refers to herself as a deputy head, educator and proud mother,” said Cannone.

Aligned with her strategic leadership and the mentoring and development of staff, her passion for children and their learning is most certainly evident.

Her educational philosophy is, “All children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow mentally, emotionally and socially.”

Cannone said the practise of this philosophy is evident in the foundation phase in the junior school.
