Last chance for collectors

Dunnes Africa Auctioneers is holding its final Antiques & Collectables auction for the year tomorrow at 10am.


The auction starts with silver and gold jewellery, including 9ct and 18ct gold and diamond rings, an unset 0.498ct round brilliant-cut diamond, a pair of George Jensen earrings and a number of watches – including an Omega and Cartier ladies wristwatches.

The jewellery is followed by the collectables, among which will be a wide variety of items, including a Royal Doulton The Dickens Jug (limited edition with its original certificate), a selection of silver items, including a pair of 19th -century silver caddy spoons.

Strong bidding is anticipated when the Murano glass pieces, including a large signed Elio Raffaeli Murano glass yacht, the Hummel figurines, a pair of oriental temple dogs

and a Wedgwood Amherst dinner service come up for sale.

Also going under the hammer will be a number of books on art and first editions, as well as many more items of interest.

On the art side, there will be a number of pieces on auction, with works by a number of African artists and European artists – including Vermeulen-Breedt, Jeanette Dykman, Doyly-John, J Hunkin and B Shear.

There is also a large selection of antique, modern and retro furniture, including a Victorian mahogany extension crank table, gable-top ladies and gents wardrobes with brass fittings,

Edwardian marble-top wash stand, a Matteo Grassi table and six chairs, imbuia linenfold

chest of drawers and a number of Persian carpets.
