This impressive feat underscores the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent and highlights the relentless dedication of its athletes.

Leading the charge was 10-year-old Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu, who once again proved her mettle by crossing the finish line as the first female competitor, clocking in at an astonishing time of 00:20:06; six minutes faster than her performance in 2023.

Ndlovu was not alone in her triumph; her teammates joined her, making a formidable showing in the junior category.

12-year-old Sihle Mbemba took second place with a time of 00:21:00, closely followed by her 14-year-old teammate Thandeka Sibanda, who completed the top three finishers just one second behind Mbemba.

The club’s juniors head coach, Ronny Ndhlovu, expressed pride in the young athletes’ performance.

“To have 11 and 12-year-olds running these times reflects on the work we are doing as a club. We took eight of the top 10 positions in the female’s 5km race and our boys also did very well in the men’s race. We can never be anything but proud,” Ndhlovu said.

For their notable achievements, Thandolwenkosi, Sihle, and Thandeka were rewarded with cash prizes and Asics running shoes, recognising their outstanding performance in the competition.
