Michael Rua Primary hosts GBV awareness campaign

Michael Rua Primary School recently took a powerful stand against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

Michael Rua Primary School held a GBV awareness campaign from 10:00am to 14:00pm, bringing together community leaders, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and local government representatives on October 3.

Bishop Sekete opened the event with a prayer, emphasising faith and unity in combating GBV. Sergeant Ndhambi Tintswalo of Kliprivier SAPS discussed the devastating impact of GBV and the crucial role community involvement plays in prevention.

Experts from Kopanong Hospital Thuthuzela Care Centre, Badumetse Batho Centre, and Engaging Parents shared valuable insights on medical and mental health support services, community support and positive family dynamics, and parental roles in preventing and addressing GBV.

Sergeant Ndhambi Tintswalo of Kliprivier SAPS discussed the devastating impact of GBV and the crucial role community involvement plays in the prevention of GBV.

Motivational speaker Mr Nyandeni of Lebz Café inspired the audience with a message of empowerment and community upliftment.

Midvaal Mayoral representative Marry Myburgh outlined local government initiatives to combat GBV and support schools.

This collaborative effort aims to create a safer, more supportive community.
