GALLERY: 45 years for SA Austin-Healey Club

All together there were 34 Austin-Healeys present.

THE Austin-Healey Club of South Africa held their annual Christmas lunch on November 25 at the Renaissance Retirement Village in Alberton. The lunch coincided with the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the club in South Africa.

The Austin-Healey Club was founded in 1973 by two men sharing the same bachelor pad, Richard Hulse and Vic Langklide, who happened to both own Austin-Healey’s.

Their first meeting was held on July 29, 1973, where eight Austin-Healeys and 24 owners showed up. From this point onwards the club has only grown with regional branches being created all over South Africa.

The club tours together through South Africa with members driving together on excursions.

At the Christmas lunch, 34 Austin-Healeys were present. The oldest cars were some 1958 classic models.

Together they enjoyed a lunch in celebration of the cars they all love.

PRACTICAL JOKE: A dog statue served for some joking fun among the owners.
COLLECTORS: The larger cars are referred to as big Healeys by the club.
RED BEAUTY: Austin-Healey Sprite
