Junior Spinners thrash Valencia FC

Junior Spinners beat Valencia FC 6-1 on Saturday.

Kwa-Thema – The U13 soccer league games continued at the Kwa-Thema Sports Complex on October 12.

The game between Junior Spinners and Valencia FC started on a good note for both teams as they managed to score their first goals in the first half of the game.

Valencia FC coach Tankiso Letsie said he used his U11 team to compete, which did not go as expected.

He mentioned that his team slowed down during the game due to being tired, saying his opponents used that to their advantage.

“The first half pleased me as my team was still up to speed. I was so happy when my team scored their first goal in the first half, it showed me that they were determined to win, they just did not have enough stamina.

“I am very sure that they can manage to do better going forward, I need to teach them how to space up in the field, how to tackle the ball and mark the ball,” he said.

Junior Spinners coach Ayabonga Nxumalo was beyond thrilled by their 6-1 win. He said his team worked extremely hard to earn the win, citing that practice paid off.

“I was not happy with the first half of the game as we could not score a lot of goals. We could not make a lot of touches in the first half as we always do at practice.

“We came back stronger in the second half, corrected our mistakes and remained disciplined,” said Nxumalo.

He added that he wishes that all his players would attend practice as required while mentioning that it would play a vital role in every players’ journey.
