South African celebrities celebrate Father’s Day

Below is a selection of some of South African celebrities paying to their fathers on the special day.


Men tend not to be celebrated as parents because more often than not, they don’t play their roles as fathers. But Sunday being Father’s Day, present fathers who are there for their offspring are celebrated throughout the world.

Below is a selection of some of South African celebrities paying homage to their fathers on the special day.

Minnie Dlamini

Media personality Minenhle ‘Minnie’ Dlamini shared a photo of herself with her father fishing.

In the post she wrote “Happy Father’s Day to the best to ever do it. I can’t believe how blessed I am to, not only to be raised by such an incredible man, but to still have him as I raise my son.”

Gail Mabalane

Actress Gail Mabalane described her husband and father to their two kids, Kwaito star Kabelo Mabalane, as the coolest day ever.

“Happy Father’s Day to the best and coolest dad I could’ve asked for. We love doing life with you Kabelo Mabalane … Zoe & Khumo are blessed to have you as their dada.”

The Unseen lead actress also wished her late father a Happy Father’s Day.

DJ Zinhle

After buying her partner Murdah Bongz a snazzy car for his 37th birthday a few days ago, DJ Zinhle wrote a heartfelt note to Bongz for the type of father he is.

“The babies and I love you so much, we feel so blessed to be led by such a kind & thoughtful man. Wishing you more love, success & laughter, I couldn’t do this without you boo.”

Zinhle, who is also the mother of AKA’s daughter Kairo, wished the late rapper a posthumous Happy Father’s Day.

“Sending Father’s Day wishes to heaven. Your absence is felt deeply, but your spirit continues to shine this Father’s Day through our memories and stories. Kairo misses you every day,” wrote Zinhle.

Proverb

The former Idols SA judge reflected on his fatherhood the day before Father’s Day as he threw his daughter an 18th birthday party.

“Did my best as a Father for my daughter’s 18th birthday party. Couldn’t help but reflect on the significance of all this happening the weekend of Youth day and Father’s Day,” wrote Proverb.

In his post, the rapper played one of his songs, The Journey, from his classic 2006 album Manuscript which he recorded before the birth of his daughter.

“Here’s to all the Fathers, who continuously do their absolute best for their young ones. May the Journey continue,” said Proverb.
