Bonnie slams Arthur for ‘abusing’ Cici, says she was saved from ‘mediocrity’

In a string of tweets the actress said Cici would heal and move on from the abuse she allegedly suffered at Arthur's hands.

On Sunday, singer Cici, real name Busisiwe Thwala, told a haunting story of how she had allegedly been physically abused at the hands of record label owner Arthur Mafokate.

Cici started dating Arthur in April last year and they shared a home together. She spoke of how she had allegedly been choked until she bled from her vagina, was dragged down the stairs and had her pelvic bones shattered when he dragged her along with his car.

Cici may now never be able to have children again after the latest assault, which allegedly happened about two months ago.

Actress and TV presenter Bonnie Mbuli is one of a few celebrities who have spoken out about the abuse the singer is said to have endured.

She tweeted that she could not “imagine the pain of those who’ve been silenced before”, adding that Cici had been “saved from a lifetime of mediocrity” at Arthur’s record label, 999.

She also said Mafokate would get his “silver lining”.

Bonnie added that Arthur’s children would now have to go to school and defend the claims against their father. She said this made them defenders of abuse, continuing the cycle by proxy.

Arthur has previously denied the claims, appearing on Drum magazine to state that, as a father of two girls, he would never condone abuse. He has opened a countercharge of assault on Cici and they are both due in court next month.
