Emtee, Fifi Cooper and Nathi win big at Metro FM Awards
Emtee walked away with R400 000 (R100 000 for each award he won).

The 15th annual Metro FM Music Awards took place in Durban on 27 February and Emtee, Fifi Cooper and Nathi Mankayi were among of the evening’s biggest winners.
Rapper Emtee, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu, walked away with four awards. He won best remix for his single Roll Up, in which featured AKA [Kiernen Forbes] and Wiz Kid [Ayodeji Balogun]. He also won Best Hip Hop album for Avery, Best Music Video for Roll Up and the Listener’s choice award.

The 23 year old rapper was so overwhelmed when he received his fourth award that he couldn’t keep up with all his wins.
“Bonang, what is this award for?” He asked the host when he was handed the award.
“I’m very blessed,” he said.”I’m so grateful to my company, Ambitiouz Entertainment and to the fans who voted. This is only the beginning!”
Emtee walked away with R400 000 (R100 000 for each award he won).
Fifi Cooper [Refilwe Mooketsi] was another big winner. The Motswako rapper won Best Newcomer, Best Produced Album and Best Female Album. The rapper couldn’t contain her excitement.
“I have a son, so it’s very important for me to dream big so that I can provide for him,” she said after the show.
Afro soul singer, Nathi Mankayi won the biggest award of the evening – Song Of The Year for his hit Nomvula. He also won Best African pop album for his debut album, Buyel’Ekhaya, and received R230 000 for his wins.

With more nominations than any other musician, Emtee was expected to be the biggest winner of the evening. Some took to social media to express their disappointment at the fact that the musician didn’t win more awards.
The awards were hosted by television personality Bonang Matheba and Radio Presenter Moeti “DJ Moflava” Tsiki.
