Sonia Booth released from ICU and on the road to recovery

The Sowetan reported on Wednesday that Sonia Booth was in ICU as a precautionary measure for minor complications following a common procedure to remove fibroids.

The businesswoman, model and footballer’s wife had complained of abdominal pains when she was admitted to a Sandton Hospital, who identified a burst cyst.

Booth has since been released from ICU and is currently in the general ward recovering. Husband Matthew Booth says she is due to be discharged on Sunday and is doing well.

“It hasn’t been a pleasant time for us,” he says, “but complications like these are quite common.”

The mother of two was meant to be launch her new book, How to Reinvent Yourself and Stay Relevant on Thursday, which is currently postponed.

Booth says, “recovery time is a month and Tsogo Sun have been very kind and understanding. They will arrange a suitable date for the launch in a month’s time once she is feeling better.”
