Pirates announced the 35-year-old striker’s signing on Thursday.

“Mabena looks happy to be part of the FC, can’t wait to see him balling again,” said @rodgerschauke3.

“Disappoint them again Mabena!!! Long May they see why this team let you go the first time,” @shaunleroux1 said.

“Mabena will offer something we have been lacking in holding up play for runners. He is a clever player ena (him) le (and) Juju Mbuyane. Ruud Krol used to rate them highly,” @ThaboNong16 expressed his feelings on the signing.

“Mabena is going to probe a lot of people wrong. He’s a good player and his experience will benefit our team, forget about age,” @Cairo97864637 wrote.

While there were plenty of positive reactions from signing Mabena, it was probably expected to get some negative talk as well from those that aren’t pleased with his return to the club.

“This is what I don’t understand about these so-called big teams. Where’s progress in that? Mabena left and even before that he wasn’t adding any value to the team other than to miss clear cut chances. After some years pirates decided to resign him! The guy is nearing his retirement,” wrote @theItal93123760.

“Mabena, (Kermit) Erasmus and Eva Nga will teach young strikers? Njani (how?),” said @NunguSompisi.

Mabena’s return to Pirates after leaving the club back in 2009, and he went on to play for Bloemfontein Celtic, Platinum Stars and Royal AM.
