WATCH: I don’t speak to fools, Jackson Mthembu tells Mngxitama

This after BLF members hurled insults at Mthembu, calling him a sellout.

After being denied access to a private media gathering in Cape Town on Thursday morning, Black First Land First (BLF) leader Andile Mngxitama and his group hurled insults at ANC parliamentary chief whip Jackson Mthembu.

Members of the pro-Gupta movement shouted: “Down with the secret ballot!” several times to Mthembu in reference to the upcoming motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday.

The ANC chief whip hit back at the group, saying he did not speak to “fools”.

“Jackson Mthembu is an agent of white monopoly capital. Him and his agents, they want to get rid of the president of the country through illegal means. We just told him that he must not eat the money of Johann Rupert and get rid of our president. He [Mthembu] is a sellout, that man,” Mngxitama charged.

Mthembu was among several speakers attending The Gathering: Media Edition, hosted by Nandos and Daily Maverick at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, where thought leaders gathered to discuss various issues affecting the local media landscape.

The BLF attended the event despite a court order interdicting the group from continuing to harass and intimidate journalists.
