KZN ANC formally charges MP Makhosi Khoza with ill-discipline

Khoza says the ANC in the province has made attachments of her Facebook posts to her charge sheet.

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has formally charged MP Makhosi Khoza with ill-discipline for her public statements on the current state of the ruling party and her call for President Jacob Zuma to step down.

Khoza has confirmed that the ruling party’s provincial executive committee in the province served her with a charge sheet.

Provincial secretary Super Zuma said the ANC would not be discussing the charges against Khoza in the media, as the matter was before a disciplinary committee.

The rebel MP has been accused of breaching 11 party rules, bringing the organisation into disrepute and failing to comply with party policies, among other charges.

“Makhosi Khoza is a member of the ANC, she has been deployed to the national parliament by the ANC on the province to national list. At this point, we are dealing with a member of the ANC from KwaZulu-Natal who is ill-disciplined. We don’t want to entertain any other discussion rather than the one that we are dealing with right now,” he told eNCA.

“[To] any member of the ANC, it’s clear how he or she should behave. There are policies of the ANC, and there is a constitution of the ANC, so there is no one that will say, no, he or she is not aware how they should conduct themselves publicly.”

The outspoken MP, who has vowed to vote with her conscience in the upcoming vote of no confidence in the president, has gained much public attention for her utterances as well as threats to her life and her daughter’s for her tough stance.

The KZN ANC has previously said she “crossed the line and must immediately face the consequences” for her actions following her call for Zuma to resign.

Speaking a public event last week on Nelson Mandela Day, Khoza said she found it intolerable being led by a man accused of harassing women.
