Five injured, two critically in Johannesburg car crash

ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene and found one of the cars in the middle of the intersection.

Five people were injured, two critically, when two cars collided at the Beyers Naude and Blueberry roads intersection in Honeydew, Johannesburg on Saturday night, paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene and found one of the cars in the middle of the intersection. Its engine was found on the opposite side of the road, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said on Sunday.

The second car was found some distance away on the side of the road next to a residence wall.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered two critically injured men inside the car in the intersection. Two other patients were found in the second car, while a third, a female pedestrian, was found lying on the pavement. All three had sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics began their treatment of the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment, Meiring said.
