One dead, one injured in Carletonville head-on collision

A man died and another was injured when two cars collided head-on on the R501 near Carletonville on the West Rand on Friday afternoon, paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found both cars in the middle of the road. Both cars were seriously damaged in the collision, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.

“Upon inspection, paramedics found the body of a man lying outside one of the vehicles. The male driver of the second vehicle was found walking around on the scene. Unfortunately, the one man had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.”

The second man was assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. He was treated for his injuries and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The cause of the crash was unknown at this stage, he said.
