Ndlozi slams ‘fake open letter’ about Zille, says it’s not from EFF

Ironically, the letter still more or less captures the party's view on what should happen to the premier.

A letter that was released late on Wednesday purportedly from the EFF calling for the DA to recall Western Cape premier Helen Zille has been repudiated by the party.

EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says they have nothing to do with it.

In an interview with news channel eNCA, he said that the “people of South Africa need to know that we live in an age of fake news, and if something doesn’t come from an authentic email of the EFF or the authenticated social media accounts … then it doesn’t come from the EFF. Anybody can use our names and our contact details, and release anything.”

As for Zille, he said they had indeed called for strong action to be taken against her for her allegedly racist tweets about colonialism and they do want her to be removed, “but we have not written an open letter” about it.

They called for her removal last week already. She is due to face a pre-disciplinary meeting about it by her party over the weekend.
