Any human rights are incomplete until black people have access to land – EFF

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) on Tuesday said until there is justice and equality in relation to land in South Africa, “any human rights are incomplete”.

In their Human Right Day message, the red berets made a case for land expropriation without compensation, saying there can be no human rights without land and until the dignity of black people in the country is restored through access to land.

In a series of tweets the party posed on its Twitter account, it said the commemoration of the tragic Sharpeville Massacre of 1960 when 69 people were killed by apartheid police during a peaceful protest march was a demonstration of the importance of human dignity.

“These Human Rights all exist in a time boom [boom] because the majority of our people have to claim to this land. In memory of the marches we reiterate that land must be expropriated without compensation for equal redistribution.

“Increasingly, our people will ask what good is the right to vote without land? What good is freedom of movement, assembly and expression without the land?

“They will ask what good is right to life without land because without land we are condemned to live on our knees…without the dignity of identity and economic freedom.”

The EFF also said the African National Congress (ANC) government “has no claim to observe Sharpeville Day and claim a moral high ground in relation to apartheid.”

It said the ruling party “has become to black people, what apartheid was to black people; a murderous regime.”
