Shooting leaves Bedfordview in shock

A waiter at a restaurant which Barras allegedly frequented in Bedfordview said he was saddened by the killing of the man.

The murder of Kensington resident and businessman, Raymond Barras, has sent shock waves through neighbouring Bedfordview, reports the Bedfordview Edenvale News.

When the news broke that Barras had been shot and killed during an apparent hit last Wednesday, residents took to social media to express their shock.

“This is too close to home. It is so scary. What is the world coming to?” asked a Bedford Gardens resident, who did not want to be named.

A waiter at a restaurant which Barras allegedly frequented in Bedfordview said he was saddened by the killing of the man.

“How does someone’s life just get cut short like that? It is unfair. I wish peace and strength to his loved ones,” said the waiter.

Gauteng police provincial spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said investigations were under way to bring the suspects to book. No arrests had been made by Saturday, February 18.

He urged members of the community to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

According to Dlamini, Barras was shot in the upper body.

Nothing was stolen.
