Sudden death of teenage girl shocks Ladysmith

After vomiting in the bathroom, she returned to her mother’s room where she collapsed.


The sudden death of 15-year-old Vyukta Ramdaas Bachu has shocked the community of Ladysmith. Vyukta passed away on Thursday night, reports the Ladysmith Gazette.

The teenager complained of a headache and being in extreme pain late in the afternoon. After vomiting in the bathroom, she returned to her mother’s room where she collapsed.

In shock, her parents rushed her to La Verna Hospital. However, it was too late and Vyukta was declared dead.

In an exclusive interview with the Ladysmith Gazette on Friday morning, mother Vimmi Ramdaas Bachu recounted the ordeal with tears rolling down her cheeks.

She said that during the course of Thursday, Vyukta was perfectly well and showed no signs of pain or discomfort. The teenager carried out her normal chores around the house, and appeared to be healthy and happy.

The family is shocked and trying to come to terms with her death, as they wait for postmortem results.

The funeral will be held today at the ML Sultan School Hall from 11am to 3pm.
