Suspect arrested after discovery of hijacking victim’s body
The man’s hands and feet were bound, and he had sustained a bullet wound to the head.

One suspect, 40, has been arrested in connection with the body of a man found on Monument Road near the R23 on Thursday last week.
The body of the man, estimated to be in his 20s or 30s, was found by a farmworker in a veld in Glen Marais, on the East Rand, Kempton Express reported.
He sustained a bullet wound to the head, and his hands and feet were tied up.
Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, said paramedics were called to the scene after a worker from a nearby farm spotted the body.
“Paramedics arrived at the scene at about 8.30am and found local authorities already in attendance. Paramedics were led to the body, found lying about 600m away from the road,” Meiring said.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the man had sustained several large wounds to his head and showed no signs of life.
After further investigation by Kempton police, it has emerged the deceased was kidnapped during a hijacking.
“An intensive investigation by detectives has revealed the victim was kidnapped the previous day and robbed of his motor vehicle in Olifantsfontein. Police also recovered the deceased’s car in Tembisa,” Kempton police spokesperson Captain Jethro Mtshali explained.
The discovery of the car in Tembisa led to the arrest of the suspect on Friday afternoon. After being questioned, he allegedly revealed his involvement in the crime, along with an accomplice who is still on the run.
The man’s wife will come to South Africa from Mozambique in order to identify his body.
