Wheel thieves come out of retirement

The stealing of wheels is causing motorists so much great distress.

A new-round of theft of vehicle wheels has started in Dundee, KwaZulu-Natal, Northern Natal Courier reports.

The plague hit the town some years ago, causing great discomfort for motorists who were left wheel-less

Now the thieves are at it again, two wheels were stolen from a bakkie parked outside the Donga Club, adjacent to the Bowling Club on Thursday night.

The vehicle’s owner was shocked to find his bakkie left on one jack, placed neatly under the right-hand side of his bakkie. The two right-hand side tyres had been stolen.

A similar theft was reported in the early hours of last Sunday morning, at about 2.30am, when the back wheels of a vehicle were stolen from Ann Street. The tyres were said to be valued at R10 000. Motorists are urged to be vigilant at all times.

Police were called to the scene, and an investigation is under way.
