Dog dumped in black bag sparks outrage

The bloated body of the young pooch was found on Prospect Hall Road.

Durban North residents have reacted angrily after photos emerged of a dog found dumped in a municipal bin on Prospect Hall Road.

The body was placed in a black bag along with a pile of nappies.

One of the residents, who did not want to be named, said she was outraged after discovering the bloated body of the young pooch, Northglen News reported.

“I was so angry that I took a photo and a short video. The public bin had been tipped over, and it seemed like another dog had torn into the black bag and that’s when I discovered the dead dog inside the packet.

“It was a really distressing scene to stumble upon. I can’t even put in to words how disgusted I am at that. That poor creature having to suffer a death like that. I am bawling at the thought of it. No animal deserves that kind of treatment, even in death. It’s heartbreaking.”

The dog was taken into Riverside Veterinary Clinic, who conducted a postmortem on the animal.

Kerry Easson from Riverside Vet said she too was appalled by the dumping.

“It was quite a young dog but the body was too bloated to determine the cause of death. The dog wasn’t microchipped so we weren’t able to see who it belonged to.

“It was a young Africanis dog. I was appalled that someone would show no compassion for the dog and discard it with household refuge. It’s disgusting,” she said.
