Babes Wodumo’s friend splashed with acid in ‘abduction attempt’ by ‘lost’ woman

Babes Wodumo posted a disturbing video showing moments after her friend's alleged abduction attempt.

Babes Wodumo’s friend almost got abducted, but luckily managed to escape. Babes shared a video on Instagram on Wednesday showing moments after the alleged abduction attempt, which took place on Tuesday this week.

“One of my friends naye she escape izolo sebembambile. Bamshise nge acid waphunyuka hawu kodwa uphi umthetho nkosi yami Sizani bo? [My friend almost got abducted last night, but she escaped. They poured acid at her. Where is the law, dear Lord?]” she wrote on Instagram.

Babes’ friend, Sphelele Xulu, a student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal on Westville campus, was apparently tricked by a woman who pretended to be lost and in need of someone to show her to another student’s room. When Xulu refused to accompany her, the woman poured acid on her. The acid burned her weave, her back and the side of her face.

Babes Wodumo and her friend spoke to TshisaLive about the incident. In the interview, Xulu explained that she had been alert ever since every news bulletin had stories of missing women, but she never expected to be tricked by a woman.

“I am sad that it is a woman who did this to me. I thought she needed my help. She looked lost meanwhile she wanted to make me a victim‚” Sphelele told the publication.

“I thought I was going to die‚ I was so frightened‚ I couldn’t tell how much acid was on me‚ I thought I was going to burn to death, but I was just in survival mode. I pushed her, and I just ran‚ when I finally stopped at the garage, she had vanished, but I could see a car with hazards on next to the res.”

“It’s so sad that we can’t trust anyone anymore‚ I mean my friend suffered at the hands of a woman. Where must we go to be safe? Where is the law?” Babes added.
