WATCH: Richards Bay hippo takes on vehicle

Apparently the hippo sunk its teeth right into the vehicles body and left a big hole.

A Richards Bay man got the fright of his life on Monday night when a hippo charged out of the bush at Alkantstrand Beach and attacked his vehicle in KwaZulu-Natal, Zululand Observer reports.

Thabiso Mbuyazi had finished his shift at work and, at about 10pm, took a walk to the beach.

People are urged to be vigilant in the vicinities of the Alkantstrand Beach dredger pipeline and Naval Island slipway after numerous recent hippo sightings and one charging incident.

When his vehicle slowed on soft sand covering the road in the vicinity of the dredger pipeline, the hippo appeared out of nowhere and charged his vehicle.
