Police confirmed that there is no bomb scare, but that it is a closed scene.

There have been reports that there was a bomb scare near Randburg Square in Randburg CBD between Jan Smuts Avenue and Dover Street.

It has since come to light that the reason for major police presence is a firearm and old explosive material recovery operation in an unused storage site, Randburg Sun reported.

Police spokesperson Captain Mpho Bertha Kgasoane confirmed that there is no bomb scare, but that it is a closed scene.
