Pretoria family shoots back at robbers during attempted robbery

When the family drove into their driveway, the suspects jammed the signal of the remote gate.

A Laudium-family travelling from the OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg narrowly escaped with their lives after an armed robbery.

It is alleged the family were recently followed from the airport by three hoodlums, who then attempted to rob them at their Laudium home, Rekord Centurion  reported.

“When the family drove into their driveway, the suspects jammed the signal of the remote gate,” said an anonymous source.

The source said a shootout between a member of the family and the thugs broke out, and one thug and a family member were shot.

“The family member was shot in his shoulder.”

He said two suspects fled and their friend, the other culprit who was shot, was left behind with their vehicle.

The source said the man then claimed to have been hijacked, but was later arrested by the police, as he was indeed one of the thugs.

“He was identified as the driver of the car and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.”

The source also revealed that residents went in search of the other suspects and found one of them.
