Domestic worker finds employer murdered in Margate flat

When the woman opened the door, she saw blood on the floor. She immediately reported this to reception.

A man, 44, was found murdered in his Margate flat in Panorama Parade, Durban.

Police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said the man’s domestic worker said when she arrived for work on Saturday, she found the door locked and the lights on, South Coast Herald reported.

“She knocked, and there was no response. She then went to the reception area and asked for a spare key,” said Mfeka.

When the woman opened the door she saw blood on the floor. She immediately reported this to reception.

“The woman and the complex employee went back to the flat together. There they found the man lying in a pool of blood in the lounge. He had been covered with a towel,” added Mfeka.

The man’s throat had been cut.

Police were contacted and investigations revealed that some of the man’s property was scattered around his bedroom.

Margate police are investigating and no arrests have yet been made.
