Newmarket mall receives bomb threat

Circumstances surrounding the bomb threat remains sketchy.

All Alberton residents on the East Rand have been urged to steer clear of the Mall at Newmarket, as entry will be denied following a bomb threat this afternoon.

It is alleged the mall has been completely evacuated due to a bomb scare at about 12.30pm, Alberton Record reported.

The Record spoke to several bystanders, and nobody seemed to really know anything. The shoppers were told to evacuate the vicinity of the mall immediately.

One of the security guards, however, did also mention that it seemed to be a bomb scare, but that was all he knew.

More to come.
