Man arrested for killing his father

The suspect had allegedly found his father assaulting his mother and carrying a knife in his hand.


A suspect who incidentally shot and killed his father, who was allegedly fighting his mom during a domestic violence incident on February 18, briefly appeared before the Belfast Magistrates’ Court, in Mpumalanga, and was granted bail of R1 000, Mpumalanga News reports.

It is alleged the suspect found his father assaulting his mother and carrying a knife in his hands at about 3am on Saturday when he and his siblings were returning home from a school concert.

In an attempt to protect his mother, the suspect took his father’s revolver from a cabinet and shot him in his chest.

The father was declared dead on the scene.

Belfast police arrested the deceased’s son in connection with the murder, and investigations are still ongoing.
