‘Drunk’ Porsche driver nabbed clocking 204km/h on the R21

The Porsche driver claimed he was on his way home.

A 46-year-old Porsche driver was arrested for clocking 204km/h while allegedly under the influence of alcohol on the R21, near Kempton Park.

Metro police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Kobeli Mokheseng said the driver was stopped shortly after 5am on Sunday, Kempton Express reported.

Metro police were conducting speed law enforcement from 4am to 11am in both directions of the Albertina Sisulu freeway at the Pomona on/off-ramps when the driver was arrested.

Nine motorists, including the Porsche driver, were caught exceeding the speed limit of 120km/h, Mokheseng said.

Mokheseng said the Porsche driver claimed he was on his way home.

A case of driving while under the influence of alcohol has been registered against the lawbreaker, besides the main charge. Other speedsters were caught doing speeds of between 168 and 190km/h.

All offenders were detained and charged with reckless and negligent driving at Kempton Park Police Station.
